Join the "NCW Sustainable Community Team" for the 2020 Earth Day EcoChallenge with Northwest Earth Institute!

Last year we decided against offering the NCW EcoChallenge again in 2020 due its high cost and because we didn't reach our participation goals for the event.

The bright side is the Northwest Earth Institute (who we have purchased our EcoChallenge from), is putting on an Earth Day-themed challenge from April 1-30.

No, it's not custom tailored to the Wenatchee area and no, there's not awesome prizes like we've had in years past. But it's a great way to take your mind off of COVID-19 and focus on how we can all work together to reduce our negative impact on our local and global ecosystems. The organizers are making sure there are actions that folks can take in their own households and while practicing social distancing.

We've made a Sustainable Wenatchee team called the" NCW Sustainable Community." So this year, instead of competing against each other in teams of 15, we can form a huge team and work together as a community. If you participated in the NCW EcoChallenge in years past, just use your old login info. We hope you'll join us.

The NCW EcoChallenge was a community-wide competition for Chelan and Douglas county residents. Participants challenged themselves to try new, environmentally-friendly behaviors for two weeks. You choose the behaviors you want to commit to doing (from dozens of options) and report your progress online daily. In addition to learning how to reduce your carbon footprint, you have a chance to win valuable individual prizes and cash for the nonprofit agency of your choice!

- New actions in almost every category

- Individual prizes (over $3,000 worth) for those who logged in to report their progress the day before

- The top FIVE teams won cash for their favorite local non-profit. If you work for a non-profit, this is a great opportunity to create a team and raise money while challenging yourself and co-workers to being more eco-friendly!

The EcoChallenge is a Northwest Earth Institute program facilitated by Sustainable Wenatchee. Our main sponsors were Chelan County PUD, Link Transit, and Waste Management. For other past sponsors, visit the website.

Sustainable Wenatchee is a 501(c)3 non-profit that promotes a culture of environmental stewardship and social sustainability in the Wenatchee Valley.
