About The Event

This is a discussion course (think book club, but better) with 6 sessions. Buy the book and join us every-other Tuesday on Zoom, from January 12 through March 23 to discuss living simply in a complex world. Click here to get a preview of what the book is like and a sneak peak of the first session.

Register here, then purchase your book here for just $15 with the coupon code "wenatchee." That's half off! You can choose an e-book version or pay about $7 in shipping for a paperback book that will arrive in 7ish business days. Tip: if you're participating with a friend, order your books together and split the shipping. If you can't afford the book, please email us at hello@sustainablewenatchee.org to take advantage of a few limited scholarships we have.

When you register, you'll recieve an email with details to join us via Zoom. Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, January 12th from 7-8:15pm. Then we'll meet every-other Tuesday at 7pm until March 23rd:

  • Jan 12: Finding your 'Why': Living a Life of Happiness and Meaning
  • Jan 26: Times Changes: Busyness, Distraction and Mindfulness
  • Feb 9: Lighten up! Consume Less, Create More
  • Feb 23: Technology: Connection and Disconnection
  • Mar 9: Media Literacy: Resisting Materialistic Values
  • Mar 23: Moving Forward

Groups will be limited to 8-12 people to ensure everyone has a chance to share their thoughts. If you get added to the waitlist, that's just because we've filled up our first group - don't worry, we'll be creating as many groups as we need. Buy your book and hang tight for a Zoom link for your group.

A Different Way: Living Simply in a Complex World: The concept of “living simply so that others may simply live” has been around for hundreds of years. People choose to live simply for many reasons and as our world changes, the motivations for and benefits of living a simple life also evolve. Today, we choose simple living as a way to make our own paths in life, paths that allow for investing our time in the things that matter most to us, making choices that create less waste and more good, using (or not using) technology intentionally, and critically examining the messages that tell us what to believe, what to value, and who to be. A Different Way: Living Simply in a Complex World connects our individual values and actions to the larger picture and helps us to find power to make real change in our lives, communities, and in the world at large.

This Discussion Course is designed to be much more than a book club; it is designed to be a guide for community building, transformative learning and life-changing action. When you break big issues into bite-sized pieces and talk through them with others, you discover insights and inspiration that are hard to find on your own. We'll learn, together. You build a personal network of shared stories and support that makes it easy to take action. In short, you become part of a community for change.
